Visconti believes he can attract 200,000 new voters to defeat Sen. Blumenthal in November.
Former gubernatorial candidate Joe Visconti said he's now exploring a run for the U.S. Senate.
The West Hartford Republican, who also ran for the U.S. House of Representatives, said Wednesday he plans to go door-to-door to attract voters.
Visconti said he believes he can attract 200,000 new voters to defeat first-term Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal in November.
A contractor and businessman, Visconti said he wants to see the GOP field a full slate of candidates in all legislative races.
He said there were 48 Republican candidates missing when he ran for the U.S. House in 2008 and 30 candidates missing in the 2014 gubernatorial race.
One-time Olympian August Wolf is so far the only declared GOP Senate candidate.
