Jason Collins On Life, Basketball, And Coming Out In The World Of Sports

Jun 19, 2017

In 2013, Jason Collins became the first active NBA player to come out as gay. We caught up with the seven foot, retired athlete during his visit to Connecticut for LGBT pride month.

This hour, we air our interview with Collins. We talk basketball, coming out in the world of sports, and more.

And later, we examine same sex relationships across the centuries — from ancient Greece to modern America. We revisit our conversation with Emmy Award-winning film director and producer John Scagliotti about his film Before Homosexuals. It was featured in the 30th Connecticut LGBT Film Festival earlier this month.

GUESTS:

  • Jason Collins - Retired NBA athlete, NBA Cares Ambassador, first active NBA player to come out as gay
  • John Scagliotti - Director and producer of the new film Before Homosexuals, and other films include Before Stonewall, After Stonewall and Dangerous Living: Coming Out In The Developing World
