We're all a little tired of this election. I vacillate between excitement, fear, anger, fatigue - sometimes all in the same hour. What will become of the country after this election? Will we accept the results? Will there be 'revolution?' Will Congress come together to legislate in the best interests of the country?
Despite the negative tenor of this campaign and recent think pieces questioning whether democracy is working, there is an excitement to this Election Day that heartens my soul. The news room is abuzz, people are in line at the polls, we proudly wear our "I voted" stickers, and there is a hopefulness in our manner that makes me think we'll be okay.
We have a tradition on the show of celebrating voting and the people who vote by speaking on Election Day to Citizen Observers from around the state. We don’t speak to people who work for campaigns, who are journalists or politicians. We talk to people who are thoughtful, interesting, and have a cool job.
We also want to hear from you. Call us and tell us about your experience at the polls today. Were you feeling excited or proud or hopeful or alienated? We want to know.
