A Connecticut high school is canceling a class trip to Germany and Austria because of security concerns following bombings in Belgium.
The Greenwich Time reports that about a dozen Greenwich High School students taking German classes had planned to visit the countries from April 8-17 during spring break.
The U.S. Department of State issued an advisory after the March 22 attacks at an airport and subway in Brussels that left 35 people dead, warning that more attacks are planned throughout Europe.
Superintendent William McKersie said Wednesday that the district decided to cancel the trip after consulting with experts.
McKersie says they aren't ruling out all international travel, and says local field trips will continue.
Board of Education Chairman Laura Erickson says she supports the decision.
