Air Force Awards Sikorsky Contract; State Insurance Rates Increasing

The Air Force has awarded a 1.3 billion dollar contract to Stratford- based Sikorsky for the H-60 combat rescue helicopters. The Air Force has awarded a contract for 112 of the helicopters.

Increasing State Health Insurance Rates

The cost of more than 66,000 health insurance policies are at risk of going up. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield wants to hike some premiums up to 17-percent. A public hearing on the issue was held today in Hartford. health care advocates say they want to know how insurance companies are calculating their rate increases for the fall of 2015.

Newtown Panel Hears From Victims' Parents

A state commission reviewing the Newtown school shooting heard from the parents of several of the first-grade victims of the massacre Sandy Hook Elementary School. The panel has been reviewing current policies and making recommendations to Governor Dannel Malloy on school safety, mental health and gun violence prevention. The panel’s final report is expected this summer.

GOP Gubernatorial Candidates Hold Debate

Republican gubernatorial  candidates Tom Foley and John McKinney held their first face-to-face debate of the primary season last night. The candidates discussed a range of issues including the minimum wage and the Common Core educational standards.
