Gas Emissions Report Unveiled; Transgender Teen May be Transferred
s progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions was unveiled today by Governor Dannel Malloy. The report stems from a 2008 law that set goals for emissions reduction.
Transgender Teen May Transfer to Massachusetts Facility
A 16-year-old transgender girl who's been held at Connecticut's women's prison for almost two months may be transferred to a Massachusetts facility over the next couple of weeks. Connecticut Department of Children and Families issued a statement this week saying a privately run residential treatment center has tentatively accepted the girl known as Jane Doe.
Police Continue Distracted Driving Initiative
A final crackdown on distracted drivers is being held in the Danbury area and will continue through next Tuesday. The campaign is known as "Phone in One Hand- Ticket in the Other.” State and local police are out looking for people texting behind the wheel in Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, Monroe, Newtown, Redding, and Ridgefield.
Special Election Scheduled for Next Month
Voters in three towns will go to the polls next month to select a new state representative. 122nd District Rep. Larry Miller passed away last weekend. That district covers parts of Shelton, Stratford, and Trumbull. Governor Malloy says a special election will take place on July 22.
State Parks Participating in Connecticut Open House Day
Some of Connecticut's parks are opening for free on June 14th to celebrate Connecticut Open House Day. The Connecticut Office of Tourism's annual event highlights arts, history and tourism offerings in the state. Some of the parks offering free admission and activities on Open House Day are Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill, Fort Trumbull Park in New London and Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam.
