Blumenthal Calls on Hobby Lobby to Adhere to Connecticut Law

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal released a letter on Monday to the CEO of Hobby Lobby calling on the company to follow Connecticut law and offer its employees in East Haven and Manchester full contraceptive coverage.

A recent U.S. Supreme Court decision grants the store the right to limit coverage for a range of contraceptives, but Connecticut law mandates that health insurance in the state must provide for prescription contraceptive methods approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration.

In a press release, Blumenthal said religious liberty is about the right to practice your own religion, not the right of bosses to impose religious beliefs on employees.” He'’s calling on Hobby Lobby to comply with Connecticut state law.

Blumenthal has also co-sponsored legislation that would overturn the recent Supreme Court decision.
