It turns out that state budget chief Ben Barnes was being dead serious when he said Connecticut was in "permanent fiscal crisis." Recent budget cuts have caused an uproar among hospitals, which get hit hard.

You know what's not permanent? Bridgeport's political scene. Quick recap of Democrats involved in the race for mayor. Joe Ganim won the nomination. Mary-Jane Foster announced she would withdraw. Incumbent Bill Finch said he'd run a third-party race in November. Finch's party didn't submit the paperwork in time. Foster changes her mind and gets back into the race. Finch still says he's running. Then yesterday? Finch dropped out and endorsed Foster. Phew.

This hour, our weekly news roundtable continues the conversation on some familiar themes. Also, WNPR's Jeff Cohen walks us through his latest story involving actions by Hartford's treasurer.
