People who cross into the United States by land a have new tool to help them learn where the shortest lines are at some border crossings.

Earlier this month U.S. Customs and Border Protection launched its Border Wait Time app.

The app provides estimated wait times and open lane status at some land ports of entry. It allows travelers to make an informed decision about where and when to cross the border.

Wait times for pedestrian,  passenger and commercial vehicle crossings are broken down by lane type.

The app does not require users to register.
