New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said the storm could be among the worst the city has ever seen. At a news conference on Sunday, he held up a list of the city's top ten snowstorms, and said this one could land at the top of a list that goes back to 1872.
The snow is expected to begin Monday afternoon in Connecticut and Monday evening farther east.
Snowfall between 20 and 30 inches is expected by the time the storm winds down late Tuesday night, with about half that on Cape Cod. Winds over 30 mph with gusts as high as 75 mph are expected in coastal areas, and up to 80 mph on Cape Cod and nearby islands.
