Sewage spilled into the Naugatuck River from a siphon in Seymour on Christmas morning. Officials with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection as well as local crews from Seymour were able to clear debris from inside the pipe.
A dam of sandbags was put up to contain the spill as much as possible. An investigation into the spill is underway.

Department of Consumer Protection to Award Medical Marijuana Licenses
In January, the state Department of Consumer Protection will begin awarding the first ever licenses to medical marijuana producers and dispensers. While the licenses are awarded by the state, it has been left up to cities and towns whether or not to host a facility. Municipalities such as Milford and Middletown are expected to participate.

Connecticut authorities released state police documents today from the investigation into the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Prosecutors issued a summary of the investigation last month that portrayed the gunman, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, as obsessed with mass murders. But the report concludes that Lanza's motives for the massacre might never be known.
