Two five-month-old seal pups rescued in March have returned to the Atlantic Ocean after recovering from their injuries at the Mystic Aquarium.

The aquarium's Animal Rescue Team released Athena and Cassiopeia from the Monahan's Dock boat launch in Narraganset, Rhode Island on Thursday in front of a large crowd of onlookers.

Athena was rescued in Virginia, suffering from pneumonia and an infected wound in her lower jaw. Cassie was found on the Cliff Walk in Newport, suffering from wounds on her right hip and right flipper.

Aquarium officials said both have made full recoveries.
