On Wednesday we find out the finalists for Hartford's new minor league baseball team. Will it be the Hartford Blue Frogs? How about the Hartford Honey Badgers? Do you like the Hartford Yard Goats better? I got it! How about the Hartford Huckleberries! What do you mean it's not on the list?
This hour, lots of people call and tweet with their favorites. Take a listen.
For a sneak preview, you can look here. You be the judge. We talk about what goes into naming a minor league baseball team, and whether any name will make us happy. How thin is the line between a great name and a dud?
Next, the town of Trumbull's First Selectman removed a painting from the wall of the town library this week that includes famous female activists like Mother Teresa, Gloria Steinem, and Margaret Sanger, who just happens to be standing under a controversial Planned Parenthood sign. He removed the painting after a local priest complained about it, but now the couple who donated the painting is complaining even louder. We talk about the painting that set off a firestorm.
Last, abusive uses of police authority are in the news a lot these days: Ferguson, Staten Island, Farmington. Farmington? In Farmington, New Hampshire, the police are issuing citations for the smallest things, like walking on the sidewalk. But, in a pleasant twist, the citations are for free pizza and fries and random acts of kindness.
