You might be able to construct an entire dining room table from the many books about actress Elizabeth Taylor.

This new one is intriguing because it explores how she knowingly or unknowingly created the culture of celebrity that we have today.

Elizabeth Taylor declared unheard of independence from the studio system that every noteworthy actor was tied to, for good and bad results.

She was the first female actor to get a million dollar salary, plus a percentage of the profits from Cleopatra.  And then there was her personal life - as tumultuous as you might expect, always fascinating.

We talk about it all with media historian William Mann of South Norwalk, Connecticut, author of How to Be a Movie Star:  Elizabeth Taylor in Hollywood.

For more than 25 years, the two-time Peabody Award-winning Faith Middleton Show has been widely recognized for fostering insightful, thought-provoking conversation. Faith Middleton offers her listeners some of the world's most fascinating people and subjects. The show has been inducted into the Connecticut Magazine Hall of Fame as "Best Local Talk Show".
