The Nose: Slasher Films by Principals, "Post-Racial America," and Bummer TV

One way to think of this is, a middle school principal should not be making blood-spattered slasher films. Another way is, it's kind of amazing that every middle school principal doesn't go home and make blood-spattered slasher films.

Then, The Rise of Bummer T.V. When you go through the lineup of television shows lately, it's pretty much all a big downer. Even "Parenthood" is like the television version of NPR's Story Corps. Makes you cry every time. What's this about? Are we a sadder watching audience because of these shows, or did we want them in the first place?

And if you didn't know, since we have a president who has African roots, then we're most certainly officially in Post-Racial America. Right? ...Right? Maybe not so much. Speaking of President Obama: Some Blacks See Secret Service as Flawed Shield for the President. How are we talking about race nowadays, or, not talking about race?

Here's a few other ideas:

  1. Controversial anti-Islam adverts to run on New York buses
  2. New measles outbreaks across the country due to anti-vaccers?
  3. DIY funerals in LA
  4. The U.S. Prison system is shrinking? Or are the numbers just moving to private prisons?
  5. Yes means Yes? Or No means No?
  6. Colorado school board editing out the good stuff in history books
  7. The marital code-switch
  8. The online justice system
