Morning Edition: Community Investment Act

http://cptv.vo.llnwd.net/o2/ypmwebcontent/2011/2011_04_19_File%202011_04_19_File%20ME_Williams%202way%20correct.mp3.mp3

Six years ago the Community Investment Act was signed into law to preserve and protect the places that are important to Connecticut's identity and character, while also creating more affordable housing and offering municipalities help for capitol improvement projects. Now the Community Investment Act is touting it's successes since 2005 with a press conference today, and an exhibit at the State Capitol. Joining us by phone is Senate President Donald Williams who originated the law.

The press conference will launch a 2-week display of 40 CIA success stories which highlight the diversity of funded projects and impact to communities across the state.  10 success stories will be featured for each of the four CIA sectors: agriculture & dairy, historic preservation, open space, and affordable housing.

The display will be up from April 18-29 and located on the walls of the underground concourse which connects the LOB to the State Capitol.  The concourse can be accessed from the first floor of the LOB, located at 300 Capitol Ave. in Hartford.
