Commuters on Metro-North's New Haven Line can expect more trains during the off-peak hours and on weekends.

It's the busiest single commuter rail line in the U.S., and now trains will run every half-hour between New Haven and New York City. Governor Dannel Malloy announced the schedule change will begin November 9.

Malloy said it's the first time half-hourly service has been offered for off-peak and weekend trains. He said the improved schedule, as well as the addition of new M-8 cars and on-going infrastructure upgrades, are continuing to move the New Haven Line to "where it needs to be."

Malloy also announced improvements to the Waterbury branch of the New Haven Line that include a new signal system and the addition of a later train on weekend nights.

The new train schedules can be found here.
