Massachusetts Rounds Out Statewide Candidates

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley will face Charlie Baker in November's election for Massachusetts governor. Both candidates faced primary challenges Tuesday. Democratic Governor Deval Patrick is not seeking a third term.

Steve Kerrigan beat out Mike Lake and LelandCheungin Tuesday's Democratic primary for Mass. lieutenant governor. Kerrigan, a former Lancaster selectmen and aide to the late U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy, will face former state Rep.KarynPolitoin November's election. The Republican has been running with Baker, who beat out Tea Party candidate Mark Fisher in the Republican primary for Massachusetts governor. It was the only contested statewide race in the GOP primary. The lieutenant governor’s office has been vacant since Democrat Tim Murray resigned last year.

Deborah Goldberg beat out State Senator Barry Finegold and State Representative Tom Conroy in the Democratic primary for treasurer. Goldberg will face off against Republican Mike Heffernan and Green Party candidate Ian Jackson in November. State Treasurer Steve Grossman fell short in Tuesday's Democratic primary for governor. 

Assistant attorney general Maura Healey beat out former state senator Warren Tolman in the Democratic primary for attorney general. She will face the GOP's John Miller in November. Current Attorney General Martha Coakley received the Democratic nomination for governor Tuesday.

Former Medicare and Medicaid administrator Don Berwick was the other candidate who fell short in Tuesday's Democratic primary for governor.

Two statewide races did not see contested primaries Tuesday.

Democratic Sec. of State William Galvin is seeking reelection. He is being challenged by Republican Dave D'Arcangelo. Green-Party candidate Danny Factor is also seeking the office.

Democratic State Auditor Suzanne Bump is being challenged by Republican Patricia Saint Aubin. Green-Rainbow Party candidate M.K. Merelice is also running.
