Governor Dannel Malloy announced on Thursday that his budget will include more money to improve school security across the state. Last year, over 600 schools got state funding.
"Today," Malloy said, "I want to make it known that my budget proposal this session will include an additional $10 million to fund a second round of school security grants."
Malloy said he also wants to make technical and interdistrict magnet schools available for the funding. He said individual schools will apply for their specific upgrades. "We believe that there's at least $10 million worth of good proposals," he said, "and so we'll reserve final judgment. But I think you really need to think of it as a school-by-school effort."
Malloy is slowly rolling out various proposals in the run-up to the legislative session that begins next month.
