The latest jobs report released by the Connecticut Department of Labor showed the state added 7,900 new jobs in June, but there was a revision to the May numbers showing a loss of 4,000 jobs.
That leaves gains of about 2,000 jobs a month for the last two months.
Connecticut’s job recovery rate is now at about 83 percent. And that’s well below the national recovery rate of 150 percent.
Unemployment was up in June at 5.8 percent, compared to 5.7 percent in May.
Ethics Review of Insurance Commissioner Will Go On
Connecticut's ethics panel is continuing its review of whether Insurance Commissioner Katharine Wade should have recused herself from overseeing the proposed takeover of Bloomfield-based Cigna by Anthem.
The decision by the panel came minutes after the Department of Insurance announced it was suspending its assessment of the merger because the U.S. Justice Department filed an anti-trust lawsuit to stop it.
Wade is a former Cigna executive. Her husband is a high-level employee there now.
The Justice Department is also suing to block Hartford-based Aetna’s takeover of Humana.
