A Group of Hartford Students have been invited to perform at the Summer Olympic Games in London. But with only four weeks to go, funding the trip is becoming an issue:

The Real Ambassadors are the jazz choir at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts. The 14 member group was selected by the London Olympic Organizing Committee from thousands of ensembles worldwide who applied for the opportunity.

The Real Ambassadors is scheduled to perform two shows at the Olympic bandstand in London's Olympic park on July 31st. The Real Ambassadors is led by Dianne Mower. She says the ensemble is working hard to make the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity.

"So they're all running around getting their passports together and learning the tunes and we'll be rehearsing every day of the week all through July," said Mower. "Yeah, they were very excited. Of course, we expected to hear in September and have a little time to raise the money," and right now, money is a primary concern.

The Greater Hartford Academy for the Arts is hosting some fundraising events, as well as taking individual donations to make up the shortfall. The name The Real Ambassadors is taken from jazz great Dave Brubeck's jazz musical of the same name.
