In 2015, there have been 14 homicides in Hartford to date.
With 2015 half over, Hartford is at the top of the list when it comes to the number of murders in New England cities, with Springfield just behind.
Springfield saw its 13th murder of the year Tuesday, which is one less than in all of last year.
Among the eight most populous cities in New England, Springfield is just one behind Hartford for the most murders in the region. And there have been two more homicides in Springfield than in Boston, which has four times as many residents.
Providence and New Haven have each seen less than half as many murders as the cities at the top of the list.
The homicide numbers in Bridgeport and New Haven are about half that of Hartford even though they have more residents than Connecticut’s capital city.
As for Massachusetts, Springfield has seen more murders than another larger Bay State neighbors, Worcester, which has and nine less murders in 2015.
Of New England’s eight largest cities, Stamford, Connecticut, has had the fewest homicides, with two.
