Governor Dannel Malloy has closed the door on a purchase of Waterbury Hospital and four other non-profit hospitals in Connecticut by Dallas, Texas-based Tenet Healthcare Corporation.
The governor told reporters Monday that he sees no possibility of Tenet reconsidering its decision to abandon its purchase plan. "I believe we could have resolved all or the vast majority of the issues that were open when there was an open application," he said. "But when there's not an open application, then you have no chance of resolving those issues, and I think that's the situation we're in."
Tenet pulled out of Connecticut earlier this month, citing numerous conditions imposed by Attorney General George Jepsen and the state Department of Public Health on its proposed acquisition of Waterbury Hospital.
