Cowboy Junkies In The Wilderness

http://cptv.vo.llnwd.net/o2/ypmwebcontent/Tucker/Morning%20Edition%2002-24-2012.mp3

The Cowboy Junkies made a big splash in the late 1980's with it's unique blend of country, folk and rock, and their slow, introspective version of Lou Reeds Sweet Jane. Since then this alt country band has churned out album after album, including the ambitious Nomad series of four albums released in an 18 month stretch. The last in that series, The Wilderness will be available next month.

The Cowboy Junkies perform  at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, 2/26. Fans know that a Cowboy Junkies show ranges from stark, intimate  songs to loud rock and roll numbers, and some surprising covers from the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Townes Van Zandt.  I spoke recently with Michael Timmins, guitarist and primary songwriter for the band. I asked him where the latest covers may come from.
