Connecticut's Department of Motor Vehicles has completed a major computer upgrade a few days early and says online services are available again.
Branch offices have been closed for a week for the upgrade, and Commissioner Andres Ayala Jr. warns there will be long lines on Tuesday when offices reopen for registration-related services.
He asked people to be patient and consider waiting a week or more before they visit a branch office. A 60-day extension on expiration dates for all driver's licenses, ID cards, and vehicle registrations has been granted through Oct. 10.
DMV employees completed work late Saturday on the new system, converting more than 40 million pieces of data from the old system. The changes will enable DMV customers to conduct more transactions online.
