One of the three Democratic mayoral candidates in Bridgeport is withdrawing from the race and refusing to endorse another candidate.
Mary-Jane Foster, co-founder of the Bridgeport Bluefish baseball team, finished third in last week's primary, but still had a place on the November ballot as an unaffiliated candidate.
Former Mayor Joe Ganim, who was convicted in 2003 on corruption charges and served seven years in prison, won the primary. But the city's current mayor, Bill Finch, who placed second in the primary, will appear on the November ballot as the candidate of the newly formed Jobs Creation Party.
In a statement posted Monday on Facebook, Foster said she "couldn't be sorrier" she lost the primary because "Bridgeport deserves better."
Councilman Enrique Torres is running as the Republican mayoral candidate.
